Default Homeschooling in Spokane/Washington

I hope someone can help...

My family and I are moving to Spokane from CA in a week and we have been homeschooling our 13 y.o. son for four years. It's relatively laid back here as far as curriculum, testing and such. We aren't 'unshcoolers' who don't use anything, it's just that I don't have to submit a lesson plan/curriculum to the state or anything like that. I don't need to qualify for anything either.

Is there anyone who can give me the low-down on this topic? I'd greatly appreciate it!

And we have no problem with him going to public school (we'll be living within walking distance of Sacajawea), it's just that the one he attended here was crap.

Thanks so much!

If you feel that way, I'd start doing some research on Sacajewea and making some phone calls.

If you haven't googled already, here's a couple of links. The first one has at least 2 Spokane/Spokane area homeschool groups with contact info--they ought to be able to help you with the info you need.

This one has a link for legal requirements for WA homeschooling.

It is not hard to homeschool in Spokane. Public schools are less than desirable in my opinion, having had my kids in private schools, and homeschool and now, public due to finances. You have to just contact whatever school district simply register as homeschooled. Then, keep the work that is completed. Fairly easy stuff. Google homeschool in wa state and you will find many sites to explore.
