I am looking at Indian Canyon too. The problem is, I'm trying to stay around $600 (I currently pay $995 and just want more $$ in my pocket) but the larger floor plans look so nice! They are about $900.

Thanks.

Stay away from the apartments near the walmart in airway heights. There are some decent places in cheney and medical lake that are close to the base. When I PCS'd to FAFB we lived at Indian Canyon, nice place.

I live on the South Hill, and while it may be geographically closer to the base, there is no freeway up there and the hill can be very dangerous in snow storms. I would think the valley near i-90 might actually be quicker in winter. I would say the Indian Canyon area would be great. You might also look at medical Lake, though it definitely has the small town vibes to it.

Indian Canyon area is nice.

I'd second what ScottinWA and spotown111 said...check Medical Lake and Cheney out. Both have some apartments (especially Cheney as it is larger and a college town). Many in Spokane consider both places to be really far out, but they aren't at all. You'll find many people in Medical Lake and Cheney to work on base...or be retired AF.

You can very often find houses in both towns for about the same money as many apartments in Spokane.

I'd also follow the advice to avoid the places around Wal-Mart in Airway Heights. In general, I'd avoid Airway Heights.
