Anyone live in Spokane Washington?
I am looking to relocate with my family in a couple months. We are moving from beautiful Olympia Washington. Employment is taking us to Spokane. We were interested in finding property (about 5 acres) with trees and a family oriented community. We found something in Medical Lake, but am not 100% that it's meant to be. We thought Coeur d' alene Idaho was nice too. We don't care where it is as long as it's half hour or less from Airway Heights. Any suggestions from peeps who know the area???? Any information would be helpful! Thank you!

We moved to the Spokane area a few months ago from Tacoma. We had been looking around the North Idaho, Eastern Washington area for years for the best spot. We decided against Idaho because of the income tax there. From your description, I think you should check out the Taylor road area between 195 and Marshall creek. If you have a Spokane realtors map it is R-S/ 9,10,11 grid area. Close to the airport and 5 acre lots. A beautiful area, rural yet very close to town. We almost bought one there, but ended up going North and further from town.

Spangle was pretty if you like rolling oceans of wheat. Doesn't it have a population of about 300? Too small for me.
We're hoping to move this summer from Everett--my husband will be working by the airport, too. We've visited Spokane twice and are concentrating our house hunt now in southern South Hill, and South Valley. It's nice because one minute you're in the suburbs and the next you're in what I would call the country(at least it feels that way when there are deer grazing by the roadside!). You can go about 30-45 minutes from downtown in any direction and find "horse" size properties.
Do you have kids? I think I've heard good and bad things about all of the districts. If you go by stats, they all seem above average. I think someone a while back on this forum mentioned how great Medical Lake schools were. You can check out any of the schools on greatschools.net. Unfortunately, it uses WASL scores to grade the schools from 1-10, but it's better then nothing. :~) D

What price range are you looking at? I would look north spokane, the west plains or Cheney determining where you want to settle down. Those are the places that still have larger lots to purchase. I live in town here and would be more than happy to put my two cents in on any questions you have. Let me know and I will do my best to point you in the right direction. Good Luck!

Davenport or Medical Lake would be good spots. Coeur d'Alene would be too far to drive, particularly in the winter.
I would suggest looking at Davenport or Medical Lake, or even in Cheney. EWU adds some interesting elements to Cheney, so you may want to check out that area.
Wherever you move to in the area, welcome and I hope you enjoy it here!
