Employment in the school systems in the Spokane area
I spent some time looking over the posts and want to get specific on employment in the school systems in the Spokane area. I am looking for a place to eventually retire and also a place for my parents who long for the seasons. They will be retiring in a few years and I am a teacher of 22 years with 8 years to go in Fl before meeting "full retirement" reqs. The good thing is that I will be young enough still to continue on for for nearly another career span before hitting the norm age. Someone posted that it is difficult to get a teaching job there. I hope that is not true. Florida is always looking for teachers! Spokane sounds like a nice place. My parents are insterested most in fairly mild weather with definitive seasons, relatively lower cost of living (after purchase of a house) and shorter drives to simple activities outdoors. I am intersted in much of the same but with location to major outdoor attractions which Spokane seems to meet. The winter would take some getting used to after living in SWFL for 28 years but hey, we have summers that will melt your toenails and potentially blow you away. The population diversity of Spokane actually sounds refreshing. Our area has been overtaken by hispanic groups. They reported a 600%+ increase in one subgroup alone in since Jan. That is fine if people come and acknowledge the culture and ways of where they are but to come and "overtake" a culture in language, etc. is a problem. Some guy wrecked into my car, no insurance, no English, and the police came and told me not to expect anything just take care of it- they saw it all the time! ---Sad. I'm not prejudice but when "your subgroup" begins to suffer without the minority status banner to gain an advantage in some way, you begin to see things differently. At any rate, any info on school employment, good areas for older young at heart people and also nature lovers would be appreciated.
