so my gf is gonna be moving to Spokane in about a month. We are both concerned about the crime rate and she is actually thinking of not going despite its a great oppurtunity academically.

She is looking into a place to live right now that is near the downtown area. Around 1st and Jefferson. How safe is this area? She has a car so I would imagine she will be street parking alot. The builing is secured building with an alarm system. Her school is in the Univeristy district and it seemed pretty safe when we visited.

I wouldn't be too worried about that area. Most people are college age or they are retired. Crime is in every city. You can never predict when someone will try to make you a victim. If you are worried there are precautions you can take.
