update
A friend of mine who lives in Spokane had his work truck stolen from his drive way while he was sleeping. He reported it.. then a week later his truck was recovered by police with most of the tools missing out of it and the rack had been cut off...possibly to get $$ for it for recycling it..& these people dont even live in the "bad" part of town.

I am from the bay area California and I too have to opportunity to relocate, I was also thinking of Spokane, WA. With the comments in these forums and the research I've done, I don't think I will like Spokane very much. I found some places in Idaho, not far from Spokane that have better weather and more sun.. Sandpoint, Id to be exact. But, I also have the opportunity to move to Colorado, Longmont.Boulder.Denver area. I'm going to visit Idaho and Co before making the move, but Spokane seems like too much for me.. but what do I know, never lived there...

I believe this conclusion you came to is incorrect. From what I understand, they get more snow/cold, and probably about the same amount of sun. It is likely cooler during summer, however.
Check the Idaho forum, we have some local Sandpoint area residents active on the forum over there.
