Good morning all, I will be in Spokane for a conference later this year. I need to find a budget hotel near downtown. It needs to be in a safe area. It would be great to be within a 15 or 20 minute walk of the convention center. I don't know the Spokane area so any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

I've actually had good things to say about the Travel Lodge right next to the convention center. Stayed there a few times, and I've never had a problem. Continental breakfast is a plus, and it is right across the street from the convention center. Also a quick walk to downtown for food and shopping or whatever you want to do.

A bit further from the convention center, and also a nice hotel is the Quality Inn on 4th Avenue. It is a bit longer walk, and walking under the underpass with all the homeless isn't too great, but the hotel itself is nice and good breakfast. Also a bar if you want to use it.

Those are my two "cheap" picks for downtown Spokane I've stayed at.

Thank you! The Travelodge sounds perfect. The rates are a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I think the convenience of being across from the convention center will justify the added expense. It is still much less expensive than the Doubletree or Red Lion. Thanks again for the suggestions!
