Default Spokane?

I was thinking of moving just outside the city of Spokane...but wondering what the weather is like? I don't mind cold...but I HATE cloudy weather...I live near seattle where it's cloudy almost all the time through out the year with short summers. What's it like in Spokane? More sun than rain/clouds?
How long do snowy winters last?

The job market seems good for office work, so that's nice!

Spokane boasts 260 days of sunshine while Seattle averages 58 days.

Winters are cold, no doubt about that.
Summers and fall are beautiful! Spring stays pretty cool until about early to mid June.

Now Spokane friendliness factor - that is a different story.
I've been here for 4 years now. I have found it very clannish, in that the locals are not very willing to accept new-comers.

Hmm..the clannish thing is a little disturbing...but maybe if I can find a more contemporary church, maybe that communiy would be a little more open...

Yep - there are some really good big churches here in Spokane that would be VERY welcoming to you, and would encourage you to join smaller groups to meet people. I have found that the comment I hear most from people moving here is how friendly everyone is, so I guess everyone's experience is different.

I just moved here from WNY and NE Ohio and have found the people to be very friendly. The "klannish" comment is absolutely false from what I have seen so far. Spokane is definitely a small city, but the downtown area is very nice and there is always something to do. Plus, if you're into church this place will be perfect for you, that's the only place i've seen the "klannish" attitude though.

Downtown has really come a long way in the last 10 or so years. This site will give you an overview but is by no means the full picture of downtown: Downtown Spokane

The claim that Spokane is clannish and not accepting of newcomers is just plain baloney.
I'm still laughing ! Spokane has very friendly people.

Is the surrounding landscape green or is it a desert?
