It's a 30-40 drive to Spokane, or if you get a job at Liberty Lake which has many companies that do engineering it seems, 20-30 minutes. Real estate is dirt cheap here, plenty of land to grow chicken and veggies and everything. I love the area by Riverview (goes parallel to I-90, south off it), the scenery is my favorite in the area and some nice houses. It's my summer weekly drive of choice (all the way to CdA).

I wonder why don't you move to Oregon, Portland area or Eugene?
I don't do well with damp climates. Cold is fine (i've done Missouri winter and central New Jersey winter), but for some reason, I die in places like Portland and Seattle.

Wow, not even close!

This thread has nothing to do with Sacramento --- PLEASE read the original topic before posting.

All would be better served if someone started a Spokane vs. Sacramento thread if that is their interest, rather than addressing irrelevant topics here.

This sounds like the online equivalent of a retiree yelling at kids to stay off his lawn. Don't be a stereotype. Someone had a legitimate question in relation to your line of questioning. Unfortunately it got a little off- track in the middle, but still, there was some new information brought forth as a result which could benefit you as well, so let's all be happy that people are conversing and just keep it on point. I'll concede that I was inadvertently part of the derailment and I apologize.

One good? thing about Spokane. There may not be a lot of jobs, but you'll be competing with a ton of people who can barely spell their own name. So if you have a skill, you have a good leg up on getting a job.
It's cheap to live here, but you can imagine what that attracts.

I'm planning to get out when I retire

Your mileage may vary
