Visiting Spokane in the winter is a little different than spring & summer months. How old are your kids? You could take a day to do some skiing at Mt. Spokane or 49 Degrees North...There's ice skating at Riverfront Park that you could work into a walk around down town. River Park Square is the downtown mall that has enclosed overhead walkways so you can stay inside and get to other stores without going outside. I always recommend walking through the Davenport Hotel - maybe stay for lunch or a nice dinner. There are tons of good restaurants and coffee shops. several art galleries and boutique type shops downtown.
There is snow on the ground here now, but temps today are in the high 30's and low 40's so it might be all melted by next week. If it stays this warm (ha ha) you could do a walk/hike through Riverside State Park.
A lot will depend on the ages of your kids - mine as teens don't always think mom's idea of fun things to do is the same as theirs. With younger kids, you can usually get them to go along with you willingly.
You could go to the Museum of Arts & Culture for a day - they have several types of arts & culture on display that all will enjoy.
You might want to take in a Spokane Chiefs hockey game at the arena.
Be sure to pick up a free Inlander newspaper when you get here because they always have listings for all kinds of things to do for the week.
