We have beautiful peace but we were also left with 4 feet of snow on the ground all winter while Spokane normally melts quickly but when I went down to shop I would see at the most less than a foot at the high points.
By the way, Portland and Seattle all got snow yesterday so it is a very strange beginning of Spring for the Pacific Northwest.
Ambulances and potholes? Depends on where you live in Spokane as to potholes and hearing of the sirens.

No offense meant, but you have basically said that
1. This is an unusal spring. I disagree. Unless you've lived here as long as I have -- and believe me, it seems like forever -- there is nothing unusual about miserable cold "springs" in Spokane.
2. Spokane weather sucks, but Deer Park is worse. Hey, I agree. But this is a Spokane forum.
3. Obviously it depends on where you live as to the number of potholes and ambulances you encounter. But I defy you to find anyone from Spokane who doesn't think the street maintenance is an absolute unmititgated disaster, and that potholes are endemic and a danger to traffic.

None taken....I'm am saying that at least for the last 8 years this has been an unusual spring as far as snow still falling in Spokane and sticking at this time of the year.

I lived in Spokane for 30 years. I miss it. The picture posted is a true picture of Spokane, In Aug Thats field burning time, the farmers in Idaho burn the fields in Aug to get a good crop for the following year and the smoke drifts over to Spokane but not always. If you fish they are 60 lakes with-in a hour's drive from Spokane. Hunting is also great. Priest Lake is about a hour n a half away. The lake's around the area are great. If your looking for work there are several jobs posted at the employment office and on line also. Someone mentioned Spokane as being DIRTY. Some of the areas are not so nice Just like Seattle & Portland I think every city has it's down falls.
Good Luck in Spokane
Irishgurl PS any one needing a real estate agent let me know. I will have to look for his card but he seemed very nice.

Okay, but didn't I say that? It does not normally snow and stick in Spokane at this time of the year but this year it has.

It certainly has. In record amounts -- and in the teeth of all the global warming hysteria. Kind of makes people think.
Some people, anyway.

spokane, not been there
I've not been to Spokane, but from what I hear from my Boise contacts, some parts of Spokane can be a little rough. For better living conditions, my research shows to go further out to Liberty Lake for a suburban feel, or to bordering state of Idaho, Post Falls, for a more rural-suburban. I would be concerned about safety and parking the car in downtown Spokane. Not like mild-mannered Boise is what I hear about it.

From my personal experience, I have never had any problems with parking my car downtown nor has my personal safety ever been in question. I can't think of anyone I know that has experienced either problem. I'm not saying it has never or will never happen because such incidents happen just about everywhere, but downtown Spokane, and really Spokane in general, I would not consider a rough place by any stretch. There are a few down neighborhoods but none that I would consider dangerous. A good friend of mine has lived in 'felony flats' the past few years and other than some shady folks being around he has never had any problem with the security of his family or his property.

It seems like every time people bring up spokane, someone always has to charge in with "Well if you look at certain areas there is much poverty and crime." That is correct. Answer: Don't live in those areas! Don't walk in those areas at night! Don't park your car in those areas! Those areas exist ALL ACROSS AMERICA. If you move to any city and take up residence in the Ghetto, you will experience problems! Even the top 3 WORST ghettos in spokane, are absolutely Mickey-Mouse compared to some areas in L.A., or New York, or Texas. We don't have the bloods or the crips or the mexican gangs that lop off your family members' limbs.
Another difference about spokane is the under-valued homes. To buy a nicely size home in a *very good* area in spokane might cost you $200,000. In another city $200,000 might have you somewhere in the poor ghetto. That, I think, is the ultimate appeal of moving to spokane. Spokane only has a token nightlife, and token fine dining, and not much in the way of tourist attractions or giant buildings that touch the sky. It's just a decent place, where if you make $50,000 a year you can do quite well for yourself indeed. Spokane dirty? Sure I guess. Hop in an airplane and fly over any city in america, and you will fly over areas that make you go 'wow, this city is dirty!' At least the spokane dirty doesn't translate into "If my car breaks down in that area, the gangs that own and patrol that block will most certainly drag me out of my car and crack my skull open, just to pass the time." You won't find that here.

I agree. No one is going to drag you out of your car in Spokane. It's too cold for them to be outside, anyway.
They're inside watching KREM-TV news tell them it's good sleeping weather again tonight.
And so are you.
