I contemplated moving/retiring to the Spokane area until I came to my senses after two visits....the most recent was March/2015!!! yeledaf forgot to add a few things to the list he provided.

1. Property crime is through the roof due to the high numbers of meth/crack heads and now a new crop of marijuana lovers.
2. Although home to or close proximity to 4 college universities, the overall make up of the area's demographic is lower middle class, blue collar types. Yes, it is majority Caucasian but a lot of white trash abounds.
3. Home prices are cheaper but, then again, consider the demographic and economy and you will understand while they are lower.
4. No State income tax but this is Liberal Washington so they get you with high sales and property taxes. And energy costs are rising due the near monopoly of Avista which provides the energy......They've raised their rates the last 8 yrs in a row. All States get your money one way or another.
5. Long Winters....expect 5 to 6 months between 60 deg temps.
6. The city itself needs a major pressure washing and some new buildings. It looks like a place straight out of the 1920's.

Good luck if you move there. There is always Idaho!!

That's Moses Lake, too. Rigs instead of cars. Also, many Moses Lakeans love ta throw their puppy dogs in the backs of their pick-em-up trucks. Is this some sort of redneck ID card or something? Make your dog grind it's paws into the bed of the truck to stay in one place while the hick driving guns it and slams on his brakes as hard as he can. Again. And again. And again.

Maybe it's a Buddhist thing. The dog was likely the driver's first wife. Or boss.

A profoundly pro-Spokane post that's wrong on so many fronts. If you click on the link OP posted you'll find it's a realtor site.

1) Please specify exactly what is "wrong on so many fronts". By reading that article, it seems to me that it wasn't meant to be overly scientific. Clearly, Spokane doesn't have better wine that the Napa Valley, for example, it's just mentioning that Spokane has some fairly good wineries. It's easy to bash something and not back it up...

2) What does it matter if it's a "realtor site"??? The point of Yel's post was clearly tongue-in-cheek about Spokane's "good points". Are you implying that everyone who posts positively about Spokane must be a Realtor-in-disguise who does nothing but try to lure unsuspecting victims to Spokane so they can suffer? I'm fairly certain that there are better marketing strategies for Realtors to attract customers. Also, on going to the other forums and sub-forums on C-D, I don't read nay-sayers constantly accusing people of being "realtors", so why would the Spokane forum be different?
