starting a new job and will be driving to hawthorn and division. i live on 5th and monroe, downtown. is anyone familiar with this commute. nevada seems to be the fastest, but not really sure. is it really that much faster than division?

you could also just go right up Monroe - it turns into Wall near Holy Names cemetary. Stay on Wall St. and turn right on Hawthorne - it's where Whitworth College's athletic fields are located. You're just a few blocks away from Division. Depends on the time of day you're travelling, but I try to stay off of Division during morning rush hour or 5:00 traffic. I've heard a rumor that the taxi drivers say that Wall St. is the fastest street to take downtown from the north side.

Maple/Ash would be faster than Nevada or Division, and probably Monroe too.

I would take Maple/Ash and follow it through Country Homes Blvd. You will end up back on Division at the Y. From there you can hit Hawthorne. There aren't as many lights.
