What do people call the neighborhood immediately on the north side of the University District Gateway Bridge? I am referring to that stretch where you have the Saranac Hotel, The Longbotham building and almost everything preserved with ghost signs? It definitely has a different character than downtown, more rough around the edges, artist friendly, LGBTQ friendly, bunch of fleas, not very wealthy part of town.

I’ve heard it called the “East Downtown Historic District”.

Wow, that's really lame and un-countercultural. I'm surprised locals don't have a shorter, catchier name for it.
