Default South Hill

Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of Apartment hunting & discovered South Hill which is beautiful!! I have a concern regarding the winter time & having to come down the hill. (I don't own a SUV) so does anyone have experience living on the South Hill & how are the roads trying to get down??

Thank you! Kimmy

Default Southhill Hills

On bad winter days it can be tricky, very tricky. But if you are on the west side of the south hill the roads to the Hospitals (Division/Brown and Lincoln/Monroe) are usually cleared first.

Smile Spokane South Hill Winter Road Conditions

I was born and raised in Spokane. I live at the top of the hill in the area you've described and am writing to reassure you. We've only ever had all season radials and have never had to purchase snow tires. The city does a great job of maintaining the main roads in the winter and pay special attention to the hills. If I ever feel nervous about going down Lincoln which passes right by Deaconess I just use Maple/Cedar instead. It's a much more gradual hill, but it's very rare that I need to use it in the winter. I guess the most helpful tip for winter driving is to pump your breaks when slowing down or stopping so they don't lock and slide. Welcome to Spokane!
