Default How much you pay to warm your home ?

Hi to everyone in Spokane area. Please could you tell me how much you pay to warm up during winter season? I understand that homes are different in size and quality...Let us say we are looking for home from 1,900 sq f to 2, 600 sq f.

As you know, a lot depends on the type of construction, insulation, and what type of furnace or heat source you have. My best guesstimate for a home of avg. construction, with normal insulation, within Avista Power boundaries, that has a gas forced air furnace system you will pay $200-$300/month for gas & electricity during the winter months.
You can call Avista or other power companies and give them a property address to find out what the high, low and average utility costs have been at a particular address over the past year. The only thing this doesn't take into consideration would be a house that has been sitting vacant or the occupants' personal preference for how warm they like to be!

Two thick blankets and a rolling oil heater solve all problems for a single bachelor up in this....

Does it mean if I am married, one blanket would be sufficient? ;0)
My husband is warm, but I am not sure I can use him as a power and the heat source all winter long. :0)

Seriously, we had an offer to move to Alaska and we think about Spokane. We have to decide in November for our move, which will happen in summer 2009.

The move to Spokane is cheaper....What would you choose? What about food price, and gasoline in Spokane? How much you need for family of 4? I make 6 figure, and my husband is in Electronics. We did not look for his job yet. How is the market in Spokane

Hahah, if you make six figures, you'll be living like a king/queen in Spokane. I have no idea about alaska because I've never been there. The market is good in Spokane if you have college degrees, bad if you are only a high school grad. Food and everything has almost doubled nationwide, no different here. There is no income tax, only sales and property taxes. So if you don't spend any money you can save a lot of money I guess.
