Default spokane area schools help please/Cheney

I tried to ask this same question in the spokane thread, but I thought I could try here too:
My family and I will be moving to Spokane, this is a done deal and I have read through the entire spokane thread, so I get it about crime rates etc.
My question is about the schools, in particular the high schools. We have been looking in the SH area-how is Ferris compared to LC? We are also looking into Cheney, does anyone have any comments on the HS there? I understand Mead is a good district, but may be a bit far for us considering my hubby's place of employment will be closer to Airway heights.
We are also looking to rent first, so any info on apt complexes or rental houses that are pet friendly towards cats would be helpful. (also in a good school district) Our plan is to keep in the same place at least until HS graduation.
any information on the schools would be helpful, and I have gone to great schools site, but you can only get so much info there, and I would like a personal opinion from parents who have kids in these schools, or maybe teachers or others that have recent experience with the schools.
I am also very interested in the Cheney school district and the rentals there. We recently took a trip to Spokane but we could not possibly cover all the areas in such a short time. We went through Cheney, and I am interested in it but I can't find much info (aside from US stats site) on rental apartments and homes. If anyone has any info or could point me in the right direction that would be great!
TIA

Cheney is a college town, with Eastern Washington U there. That tends to skew the available housing, but I have no firm knowledge of the town any more. It used to be, at least, a decent school district (one of the good things that college towns tend to have), but it has been a Long Long Time since I paid any real attention to Cheney.

Hi
Ferris is a great school and i have seen many young kids go there and love it. LC is closer to downtown, and more dangerous in the sense that parking is an issue and they are more likely be able to connect with the 'drug' community.
Ferris is so far up the South Hill, they will have to make a real effort to go that route.
My opinion of course! Some say LC is great, but i have yet to meet anyone who attended there and loved it.
