Question Spokane Climate

Hi All,

Moved to the Seattle area from WI about 6 months ago, found this area doesn't like me and my children (long story)... anyway, was wondering about the Spokane area and how the winters are. I'm from WI, so winters to me are FRIGID... negative temps, lots of snow, cold that goes right through you, etc... I guess I don't know how to phrase it , but if anyone has experience with Midwest winters and eastern WA winters, I guess I'd like a comparison. Hope the question makes sense and any help I could get would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Winters here in the Spokane area aren't nearly as bitter at Wisconsin, and the area is, overall, typically drier than much of the midwest. We're sheltered by the mountains to the north, west, and east, and while average temps here are below freezing, we don't see negative temps too terribly often. Once in a while, we will, sure, but winters here can vary, depending on how much influence the Pacific ocean is having on us. We can have wet winters with milder temps (40s in the day), or we can have really cold, but dry, weather (20s in the day).

However, the winters here last pretty much from November until usually March.

Spokane definitely has rugged winters. However, they aren't quite as long or as harsh as the winters in the Midwest.
