Just had a home built and the builder did all the wiring and plumbing and framing down in the basement which passed all the inspections of course, as well as fully finishing the bathroom.

Now all I need to do now is hang sheetrock on the two other rooms down there and paint do I really need a permit for this?

The internet has been no help and friends, and friends of friends who do construction for a living say I do not need a permit for sheetrock but I want to double check.

If I was doing any electrical, plumbing, framing, etc I know I would need one but just drywall seems like a "just do it"

There is no need for a sheetrock permit in Spokane or Spokane county. You may need to call for a final, but that is just to inspect the outlets, plumbing fixtures, smoke alarms, etc.

The sheetrock could have huge gaps or hole in it and they won't care.

thats good news and seems to be what I have been hearing. the outlets plumbing and smoke alarms are already in place by the builder and have passed a final inspection so hopefully I dont have to do a final final inspection on the already inspected items
