Default Cheney Washington?

Hello, I am thinking of moving near Spokane, around that area. I read Airway Heights gets tornadoes, and was thinking of Cheney, could anyone please give some insight into that area? Thank You!

Default new too

I will be new to the Spokane area as well, and I looked into Cheney as an option. I don't know much but here goes: It is a college town as Cheney is home to EWU. The commute to Spokane from Cheney is not bad, but I only drove it during nice weather, and if you work in the valley, it might be a long commute. The area itself is nice, but small-which actually was one of the attractions to it, but I currently live in a college town and want something different. I hear the schools are good, which was another reason I considered it. I will really depend on what you are looking for to see if Cheney is for you. I don't know if the are prone to tornados, and it would seem to make sense that their weather is similar to Spokane, but I could be wrong.
I hope that helps and hopefully someone with more insight will be able to better answer your question!
Good luck!!

Airway Heights is right next to Cheney and is where the Fairchild Air Force Base is located and also right next to the Spokane Airport. I haven't heard about any tornadoes so I'm not sure where that info came from. Cheney and Airway Heights aren't that far from Spokane, so weather is pretty much the same in all places, although Cheney gets a little more snow in the winter months.

Sheesh. One small tornado and all of a sudden Airway Heights is tornado alley. It only smashed a small barn. Hardly Kansas or anything. Airway Heights is a dump though in my opinion, my mother lives out highway 2 and it is dry, dry, dry. The town is simply base sprawl.

Cheney is a little (few hundred feet) higher than Airway Heights and so maybe it gets a little more snow etc. The temps in Cheney during the winter are almost always Spokane temp minus 7 degrees. It gets toasty some times here in the summer (100-105) but only for a week or two on average. Cheney tends to be a little more expensive than Spokane overall, as it is a University town (my own Eastern Washington University), but it is still cheap to live there, until everyone in California reads this.
