Default Worst neighborhoods of Spokane?

What are the worst neighborhoods of Spokane?

I plan on vacationing in Spokane at the end of this month and I am curious to know which neighborhoods I must avoid?

are you worried that if you accidentally drive through a neighborhood that you might get carjacked or shot at or something?? I would worry more about where you want to spend your vacation doing fun things, exploring the parks and enjoying the scenery. If you accidentally head into a lower income run-down area, just keep driving for about 5 minutes and you'll be back out again.

All of them if you are going to be on vacation.

Really, unless you are uber-paranoid, there is nowhere to avoid around here.

I'm not paranoid, I'm just cautious that's all, I do believe Spokane is a pretty safe city for its size.

Yes, I would say "have a blast, be safe" but don't know of any specific location in Spokane to stay away from actually like some cities, the south side and so on...There are a variety of url's showing the nice places to visit in and around Spokane County...

Default Just my opinion and observation...

The Northside is very nice, north of the Y. Also, the valley and parts of southhill are nice. I haven't lived here long but I don't care for the places around North Central High School or Rogers High School.. It seems like there is quite a bit of lottering, neighborhoods that aren't kept up well, etc...

I was in the area of North Central High a couple of days ago and my fourteen year old asked if it was a bad neighborhood. I wish I could be more specific on the location. Maybe another poster could help me out with that one. I don't mean to offend anyone because I know there are a lot of nice people in this area but it was just something I observed and it is my personal opinion...

I agree that it seems like Spokane is a pretty laid back city compared to many cities that I have lived in. I like it a lot and think it has many things to offer

The north central High area and rogers area are fine. Yes they are not the best groomed areas but they are very family drivin areas. Mostly older people or families with kids. I have lived in every part of spokane and can honestly say that Spokane couldnt be safer. Not saying we dont have crime, but if you car dies in spokane there is nothing to worry about...heck most of spokane has a mechanic on every block.

Default Thanks for the post!!!

Alright then I will take your word for it since I haven't lived in those areas. I do like Spokane very much and unfortunately we may be moving soon. I will truly miss it very much And if my car breaks down I will keep the mechanic advise in mind

I have not seen any areas in Spokane that you take a wrong turn and end up being mugged or car jacked. There are lower income areas just like any other city. I would not worry about it. If the area looks run down just leave. You will not be in imminent danger.

i just moved from hilyard(rogers high school area),over to the west side(north central high area). neither are a place to be caught in at night time especially if u dnt know the area. bt do not be scared of any neighborhood. spokane is a beautiful peaceful(for the most part) place to visit and live. if ur nervous jus stick to the tourist attractions and downtown area. northpoint at the "y" and pretty much the entire division street has anything or store u could need. theres no reason to need to be in those two shadey parts of town at night. i hope u have a great experience here. it really is a great city.
