Default Say it ain't so, Spokane

I just came across a disturbing article in The Spokesman Review:

Spokesman.com | Couple want backyard back | Apr 17, 2009

Someone please tell me this abominable situation is an exception to the rule in your area. This isn't normal in Spokane or Eastern WA, is it? Not sure if these slugs can keep squatting on private property because of a WA state law, or is it a county ruling? I've been scoping out Spokane for awhile as a place to possibly move to, but I really don't like the sound of these freeloaders being allowed to stay.

What's the deal here?

Wow, that's just crazy, though! I can see the side of the police and the owners, but I can't believe the police said what they said to the squater and acted the way they did, allowing the locks and the window to be broken!

Glad to hear the owners have their property back. Kind of bizarre the authorities would have sided with the trespassers at all...but anyway. Thanks for the link, WendyK.
