The above lakes have forrested shorelines as they are north and/or east of Spokane proper, but all within a 45 minute-hour drive of the city. Anecdotally, boat ramp activity can be heavy on nice days, but not to the point of congestion. Take a peak at these lakes on google maps/earth.
Thanks, grayproduct-- just the info I was looking for!

We've only been here just under three years but lake COEUR D'Alene is warm enough in the summer to swim very comfortably when it's been warm outside for a while. We've also been over in the Spokane River by Post Falls at the Kiwinas Camp last year and it was really nice. We moved from Palmdale, CA to Spokane Valley, WA. and like the cooler temperatures much better.

Hi Wolfhound!

We currently live in Ridgecrest, CA and are looking at relocating to the Spokane area. We are over the miserable summers. I can imagine the weather is much nicer there. One of the questions my husband has is if the lakes and rivers are warm enough to enjoy? He water temps here in the summer are really nice. Anyways..it’s nice to see a local make the move we want to make. Any regrets? It seems like Spokane is a blue-collar city, my husband is a millwright, and I am a nurse. Do you know if there are many opportunities for millwrights? I appreciate all the help!
