Thumbs up Spokane Falls

Tell them to go check out the Falls. It's an amazing sight from the footbridge in the spring especially after a big snow year.

I used to live in Blue Ash too and my husband is a Hoosier. Spokane is a pretty safe place. I'd suggest Colbert as well. While I live in north Idaho, I spend a lot of time in the Spokane area and if I had to move closer, I'd stay on the north side. To me, Spokane Valley is not as pretty...too much like high desert.

We have a lot in common...lol.

The company is really hurrying the move along. He thought he was going to have a bit more time, but the way things are going, they want to have him out there by the first week in November.

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as a leasing agent to find a house? Most of the properties we've seen online say "No cats, no dogs" and they'd sleep in their cars before they'd give away their cat.

Thanks again, everyone. You've all been a tremendous help.

A lot of times it's the owner who make the pet decisions, not the leasing company. How big of a house are they looking for? Along with the local craigslist postings, they can check on Spokane Home Rentals :: Property Management :: Homes :: Houses for Rent - Welcome for some currently available houses.

Thanks for that, Wendy. They're looking for something at least 2 bedroom and that's good to know about cats. We were getting pretty worried looking at some of the other sites that listed rentals (we didn't find that one).

Default Update re: my son

He has been in Spokane for a week and loves it. We've received several pictures of the area including the parks, rivers and mountains. He's like a kid in a candy store coming from the midwest.

He thinks he has found a house in Post Falls, Idaho and they will be moving permanently at the end of October.

Thanks to everyone for your help and support.

They have officially moved and settled. Their furnishings didn't arrive for 12 days after they were there, so it was an air mattress and 13" tv for awhile.

Both of them absolutely love Spokane. Everyone has been so friendly, and they have readily made new friends (something that did not happen the entire year they were in Cincinnati). My son remarked, "It's so nice to smile and someone and they smile back."

Spokanites, you should be very proud to live in such a lovely community.

Awesome!

Did they settle on the place in Post Falls or somewhere else?

When I first moved there, I bounced around from a motel on Sunset Hill, to my boss's RV in Post Falls, and finally to a house, all without my family and my stuff for an entire month! I lived out of my car and a suitcase, so I know what it's like to live without the essentials....it sucks!

I hope Spokane grows on them as much as it did me, and I hope you are planning a visit to them soon!

Hi, David!

They decided against the Post Falls house because of the commute. It wasn't too bad, but my son is on call a lot and wanted to be in Spokane, just in case.

They found a very nice apartment complex (cat friendly!) in the N. Indian Trail area. A bonus is that part of their rent can be applied towards a down payment on a new home.

My son says they will never return to the midwest. They're completely in love with Spokane, the people, and the beauty of the surroundings.

My husband and I plan to fly out for a visit sometime in April (the baby is due in March). If we like it as much as they do, we will probably retire out that way, which wouldn't disappoint me in the least. I've been trying to get back out west since I left over 30 years ago.

I sure wish you were back in Spokane. Maybe someday, we'll both wind up there.
