Why are the majority of the main roads in Spokane only 30mph?
Why are the majority of the main roads in the city of Spokane only 30mph? There are some roads I feel should easily be at least 35mph, I know the majority of the main roads in the Valley area are 35mph

IMO many roads within the city of Spokane have very dense traffic at certain times of the day ~ that could be part of the reason.
I guess you could find alternate routes or just drive a little over the speed limit if you're willing to risk it.
"Harve Clark from the Les Schwab total traffic center, medium to heavy traffic on the interstate and the arterials. There's a slow down on I-Nighty eastbound through the Perry curve, and there's an injury collision at Sprague and Freya".
Sorry, just had to get the last part out....I miss hearing it.

Does it matter what the speed limit is? The pokie local Spokies will still make sure to drive 10 miles under it. They do 50 in the left lane with no traffic in front of them for miles for crying out loud!

Y'all count your blessings about pokie Spokies...beats the white-knuckle thrill ride of bumper-to-bumper tailgaters who view speed limits as suggestions that I gotta deal with on a daily basis now. Oh, yeah, then throw in the 50 mile per hour guy in the left hand lane in amongst the 80 mph'ers for interest...

The people that continue to drive 30mph in a 45mph are driving me crazy! This happens ALL the time.

I just moved here and the side street speed limits were 45 and 50 mph where I came from, it was a little frustrating at first.

And they're not located in the city limits are they?

What are these "city limits" you speak of? In Orange county their are no city limits, the city just keeps going.
Beach Blvd which is probably one of the busiest side streets in the country is between 45 and 50 in different spots. All the other side streets are 45(35 in some areas).
Jamboree which is the main drag the separates Tustin and Irvine is 50.
It's the exception to see under 45 there.

My pet theory: Spokane County tries to dodge state road maintenance requirements by keeping speed limits low, so bumps, potholes and bad shoulders don't need to be fixed; and it gives the county a revenue generator, handing out lots of speeding tickets.
