Post Spokane from AZ HELP!!!

So I am 24 years old...I was born in AZ, lived here for 10 years, moved to MI lived there through high school...came BACK to AZ for college and have been living here ever since (with exception to a short time in IL). My parents recently retired to MT and I would love to live closer to them. I am just sick of the Phoenix area. I am finally unattached from a really bad relationship and I am sort of just looking for a fresh start. What I hate about PHX: smog, crime, traffic, unbareable heat, poor morals/values, overpopulation, brown brown brown landscape! I am looking for any kind of information or suggestions or anything at all about Spokane. HELP!!!!

Hi Chelsielea.

Without anything more specific to go on, I'd say that Spokane would obviously be better than Phoenix in all the areas you mention. I say obviously because Spokane is quite a bit smaller than Phoenix.

Even though Spokane's crime rate is higher than the national average, it's still better than Phoenix in most categories of crime.

And yes, less smog, traffic, heat, brown, and overpopulation. Morals and values is kind of subjective but Spokane still leans right, I believe ...somebody will have to confirm that for me; but that's not necessarily a good indicator of how moral or what kinds of values a popultion has.

Have you considered Idaho? Parts of that state are very conservative with low crime rates but with it come other considerations too.

If you have specific questions, I think you'll get better responses on this thread so ask away!

Thanks.

This is not close to your parents but the cost of living is amazing ( so you can afford to fly out and see them) I just moved here from California and love it. Sub tropical weather, green, green, green. Mountains, oceans, rivers and forests. Friendliest people you will ever meet. Big on morals and courtesy. I have not had anyone lay the horn on me or flip the bird and I have been here since September 5th. Keep an open mind and really check this place out! A lot of colleges and it's been rated # 3 in the nation for singles.
