Whereas at Cincy it was not a given that Djokovic would win (most said Federer was favorite at Cincy), so its more impressive than Djokovic beating Federer at the US Open.

And imagine the psychological edge Djokovic has over Federer, beating Federer at Cincy is like beating Federer at Switzerland.
Never has the US Open draw been more significant than this year, with Federer absolutely needing to avoid Djokovic....
I also just realized that Federer and Nadal have never met at the USO, which is quite ironic.
They cannot meet until the Final now, as are seeded 1 and 2, so the chance of that is low but not impossible.
Nole could meet either of them as early as the QF, as he is back in the Top 8, but not Top 4 yet.
Federer has admitted Nadal and Djokovic are favorites for the title:

Federer I would suspect would be more prone to an early upset as well, Djoker less so but still has to be focused and careful with every opponent, Nadal has less margin for error and should be at least the QFs before being tested.

I was 100% sure they would meet in 2013:
R1: Federer def. Zemlja 63 62 75
R2: Federer def. Berlocq 63 62 61
R3: Federer def. Mannarino 63 60 62
R4: Robredo def. Federer 76(3) 63 64
QF: Nadal def. Robredo 60 62 62

And obviously very close in 2010 and 2011.

USTA wasting more wildcards in the name of diversity. How about giving it to the best players?

Also 2017 US Open, Nadal-Federer would have met in the SF but Del Potro beat Federer in the QF.

I know its good that he won't wear himself out on hardcourts, but look how badly Nadal choked today-

Kyrgios def. Nadal 36 76 76

Nadal had 10 break points on Kyrgios serve, and only converted 1.

Kyrgios only had 1 break point on Nadal's serve, and didn't convert it.

Nadal had match point in the 3rd set tie-breaker, but served a double-fault.

Nadal won 121 points, Kyrgios won 111 points.

Good to see Dominic Thiem win his first Masters title at Indian Wells:

This should stand him in good stead for the clay court season as well, as IW plays similarly.

A new WTA sensation as well has won the IW womens draw, Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu:
