Did I see that Mardy Fish is the highest ranked American. Wow, no disrespect to Mardy, but this is a dark time for American players.

Berdych seems to hit his highs and lows in extremes.

Also, the William sisters are back, I wonder how they will fare against the top seeded players in this tournament.

I disagree. Tennis is an international sport unlike football baseball and to some extent basketball. All of which are USA dominated sports.

Lets not forget sharapova, turisonov, jankovic and other foreign players who play for their birth countries but have been raised and trained in the USA most of their lives.

I dunno, do you see a American male, someone who plays with our flag representing them winning a major anytime soon? I have a really hard time seeing that. I hope I am wrong, but time will tell.

Roddick was just knocked out by F.Lopez (ranked 44, I think he's ranked lower than his actual skills but that's just me).

I'm left watching this on espn 3 online, can't seem to find when this thing is on and on what channel. And the hours are all screwy with the time zone thing. :/

No and I blame the usta who seems more interested in creating a "racially diverse " pool of players rather than backing the best and brightest.

The only chance for a new us champ will come from outside usta player development or an immigrant.

Huge win for Tsonga today. He was down 2 sets against the Fed and fought back like a champion. This was the first time Federer has ever lost a match after leading 2 sets to none. I hope Jo-Wil goes all the way now.
