I still don't think any rivalry can top Yankees-Red Sox.
everyone outside of Mass and NY hates this series and switches the channel anytime these to teams are on. One problem with that however 27 million people make up the population of the two states and that number compounds after every 30 years with a new generation of yankee or red sox hating kids, so even though so many people hate the sox and yanks, they have the numbers to drive to number despite the number of people who hate these teams. The rivalry on its own is not that good if you ask me, the yanks have dominated and the red sox are recently good. It's almost like Brewers Cardinals, Cardinals have way more rings but just recently Milwaukee and the Cardinals have been good at the same time much like the yankees and red sox finally being good at the same time.

Everytime the series is on, you can put your house on it that the game will be on overhere on ESPN, I just simply switch over, I don't like either team, and the fact that they play so many times just makes it boring.
I think the only college football rivalry that gets national attention every year, regardless of any title implications is Ohio State/Michigan. The others all kind of depend on whether the teams are ranked that year, whether they're in a conference that is on the upswing, etc.
Army/Navy would have to be a close contender---there's a great book about that rivalry called A CIVIL WAR by John Feinstein. Probably one of the best sports books of all time.
All Blacks V Australia in rugby is pretty big right now
