Just a thread to post about the US open.

Who are you wanting to win, who do you think will win and what matches are you looking forward to?

C'mon Murray

OK, I'll play. Been a USOpen fan for over 20 years. Had been a big Rafa fan, but mentally he seems to have lost it. His matches lately are actually boring. Never thought I'd see that day.

Who do I think will win? - Djokovic
Who do I want to win? - Don't care this year, but it might be nice if Feddy would take a 6th (not happening), or Mardy would break through (not happening). Would like to see Fed beat Djokovic, but that's not gonna happen anymore.

SemiFinal:
Djokovic/Federer
Nadal/DelPotro

Final: Djokovic/DelPotro/Rafa
Winner: Djokovic

Guy to watch - Dolgopolov. Will face Djokovic in the round of 16. Got a lot of talent, not properly harnessed mentally, and he is too small to become a consistent top player, but when he's on, he's fun to watch. Chris Fowler calls him flashy. Great serve, great returner, great mobility, can hit winners from anywhere on the court. Won't get past Djokovic though.

On the women's side - not/never a Serena fan which opinion she confirmed and cemented two years ago with that ugly display towards the linesperson for which she got a mere slap on the wrist.

but loving her costume this year - on a purely frivolous note. Best I've seen on her - ever.

Winner - Serena - no contest.

He wasn't supposed to beat Djoker at the French either but he did it in four sets.

Djokovic is the hottest guy on tour, but he's still not a better player than Roger Federer is right now. I've never thought much of his game. He's a steady, quick-moving player who handles pace well and has a better than average serve with a very good return. His volleying is okay at best. His biggest weapon is consistency. But since we don't live in era of diverse play any more, consistency is the most potent weapon of all. The guy who reaches the top is the guy who can become the greatest human backboard.

Roger is looking quite sharp. I'm sure he's taken note of Djoker's struggles with Dolgopolov and will vary his pace accordingly.

This rain delay is annoying! lol

Well Del Potro is out, that was a surprise! I think the Federer v Tsonga game will be close and Tsonga could well win like he did in Wimbledon.

Murray's got a tricky tie against the American Young, but think he will get through in 4 sets, murray will do well this year I feel it in my bones!

Agree - Novak's game is boring. And Roger is looking sharp - and he's got waaay more game. I'd like to see him take a 6th USOpen. And take Novak down a peg. A bit too self-consciously arrogant to suit me.

Two days of rain and more coming. Weather forecast for NYC says rain all week. Have they ever postponed a tournament a week? They may have to this year.

Certainly hope Fed gets through Tsonga. Murray - I dunno - somehow that guy doesn't seem to have the gut to win a Slam. May make it to the final, though, seeing how how uninspired Rafa is these days. I think Rafa has seen too much tennis from too young an age and it's caught up with him.

Well, Rafa on fire today. Mad at the tourney people. We'll see if it carries through to tomorrow. Short match. Three day's play not much different than a Masters, so he should be fine. Murray, too. Although it was a much longer match, I don't think he was suffering too much.

Really want to see Fed/Djoker - and Djoker lose.

Murray showed glimpses of brilliance, in the 2nd set especially, Isner put a comeback on but he is a good player so a 4 sets win was a good result. This could be his 1st slam I think, I really do.

Murray is not beating Djoker, I am sorry to say. Rafa, probably not doing it, either. Fed was our last hope and he's out. He had it on his racket and blew it. Incredible, really. Unless...... this almost 4 hrs with Fed takes its toll on Monday. Very doubtful. Rafa won 3 slams last year, this year is Djoker's.

That Fed/Djo match was truly the most depressing match I have ever seen. All I will say is this. Winning doesn't buy you class and Novak has none. His stunt with the crowd was tacky. I would have really liked to have seen Rog kick his a*r*s*e.......and he would have done it with class!
