She was always smiling, like nothing ever bothers her; and it seems she was always happy when her teammates did a great job.

Some of her teammates are not the same. Maroney for example, probably showed the worst sportsmanship in the American gymnastics history, acting as if the world owes her something when she herself made a mistake. She should feel lucky to have won a silver even after landing on her butt. Who does she think she is?

Raisman was kind of rude too. After she won bronze on the balance beam (after review), Gabby wanted to congratulate her, and she appeared so cold and impolite. Plus I don't think she deserved that floor gold.

After they won the team gold, it was funny the white girls hugged together and Gabby was kind of left aside! I am so glad she won the all around gold and proved herself! In the interview, her coach said she was always willing to do anything told and never whine about it.

Even after she fell from the beam, she stubbornly held on to it, which was so cute!

She and Shawn Johnson are the agreable, approachable girls in the women's gynastics team. The others, I don't know, all seem kind of cold, prissy, occassionally rude and sometimes even b*tchy. Honestly, what's wrong with the American gymnasts? It has been like a tradition. Liukin for example, was like an ice queen. I never saw her smile once.
That made me so mad last night. She did not deserve that gold. I felt so bad for the other girl.

I was so proud of the male gymnasts because they genuinely seemed happy for each other. The enthusiasm they showed for the other gymnasts no matter what country they were from was very touching.

I've noticed that a lot of women athletes in individual sports, tend to be very bitchy towards one another.

I follow both tennis tours pretty religiously, and there is a demonstrative difference between how the men, and the "ladies" treat their fellow competitors. Sure there is some strife between a few of the guys - that many players there's bound to be some. But the WTA often resembles one big, organized cat fight. Oh they often put up airs in front of the camera, but the behind-the-scenes stuff often gets real interesting.

If someone can explain why that is, I'm sure happy to listen.

I think my ancestors on my mothers side came from France.....200+ years ago. Maybe I should be listing French-American as my race?

Ridiculous.

Whoever started that crap needs his slats kicked in.

If MOST of your ancestors, less than 500 years ago, came from France, you will be considered as Caucasian Ameircan or white American, as opposed to African American or black American.

Just like girls, they can be mean, verbally and mentally abusive, towards each others, that can be constant and repetitive. But, school boys, they get into a physcial fight, but when the fight is over, they're all cool.

Such a talented Young lady. Her smile brightens the entire gym. Why does her color have any bearing on her success? Why do we need to continue seperating everyone? She represents this country as do all the Olympians. Citizens of the human race !

Can you imagine how much more attention and endorsements she will get if she looks like this:

That's Kyla Ross if you're wondering.

Thanks for correcting me. I do find Ross is the kinder one among the three.
Maroney basically acted like a brat. Remind me of "mean girls" for sure.

Exactly!! I had no clue who this was. Gabby has that spark about her. She exudes a beautiful aura. As I said earlier, Why do we have to segregate ourselves.
