What are the 'evil empires' of American sports?
Certainly the Yankees and Red Sox fall into this category, but who else? The Cowboys, perhaps?

To be an Evil Empire, you have to win alot. Last time I checked, the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since '96. They are more like Village Idiots.

Yanks and Sox, that's all. It's hard to be an evil empire in a sport with a salary cap.

Dallas cowboys - "america's team" - yeah right - I would like to find the media bozo that made that one up... we have to listen to that nonsense every year until eternity.

No, the Sox are now up there, too, with their gigantic salaries and strategy of buying World Series victories.

IMHO ...
Baseball - New York Yankees (although the Red Sox are losing my sympathy).
Football - Dallas Cowboys. (I'm an Eagles fan. 'Nuff said.)
Basketball - Los Angeles Lakers.

The team that I most enjoy rooting against is the Dallas Cowboys, followed very closely by the Yankees ( although I kinda liked the Yankees this year...weird! ). The RedSox are still a long way off from being a dynasty.
I haven't rooted against all dynasties or teams that seem to be winners year after year. I have actually rooted for several teams in that category like the Steelers in the 70's, the Forty Niners in the 80's, Bill Russels Boston Celtics, the Atlanta Braves 14 year run, and the current version of the Patriots. I can't put my finger on what makes the Yankees and the Cowboys different.
blessings..Franco

NFL Films came up with "America's Team"...
And that's right, you WILL listen to it every year until the NFL or the Cowboys fold. And that wont be happening anytime soon....
GO COWBOYS!!!
Getting on topic, the only real evil empire is the Yankees. The following teams aren't evil, they are just teams alot of people love to hate, for some reason.
(BTW, It doesn't have to have anything to do with the number of championships they've won. Look at the Packers and Celtics.... How many people hate those teams?)
- Dallas Cowboys
- L.A. Lakers
- Boston Red Sox
- Duke Blue Devils (Basketball)
- Oakland Raiders
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish (football)
Soon to be on that list... The New England Patriots...
