HARTFORD coming close to landing a NHL or NBA Nearly got the patriots pretty small city population of about 130000 but metro population of around 1.5mill the biggest missing piece is a arena because the Civic Center isent cutting but Hartford Real Estate Tycoon Larry R Gottesdiener is pushing for a new 20000 seat arena there is a big sports fan base here Rentchler Field fills up with 40000 people when Uconn huskies football play there if you google in Hartford Whalers you will see Hundreds of websited to bring the Whalers back with signatures even after 10 years.

I think OKC should get an NBA team, especailly after what they did with the Hornets. They proved they could host a pro team. Also, it would be cool to see Vegas get one, and it will probably only be a matter of time.
Why would you want Hartford to have a team? The northeast already has tons of pro teams, whereas places like OKC and Vegas are a long drive away from the nearest pro teams.

I was gonna put NY City on there but I see that one's already been played for Philly.
I put my vote for OK City.
Too many back east, although, that's where all the people are. Go figure.

OK city without a doubt. Plus they are close to Tulsa. It would make sense to build a big arena somewhere in between.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
The whole state of Nevada is 2.5 million people. I don't know Vegas' population. Closest cities to Vegas of any population (if you call over around 200 miles "close") are Phoenix (already has teams) & San Bernardino (LA teams). Even Reno is not close. Vegas would need a thriving tourist industry to fill their stadium because the population is not in Nevada or "near"by.
Oklahoma City is in a state of 3.6 mil but at least it is close to Tulsa (no teams). If you stretch out around 200 miles I think you are near Dallas-Fort Worth (already has teams), Little Rock, Kansas City (already has teams).
These are some population centers to draw from.
Hartford is hurt by this type of analysis because it has to compete w/ Boston teams to the North, NY teams to the South. It would be hard to draw a fan base in a saturated region.
Norfolk, on the other hand, is in a state of 7.6 mil. 100 miles from Richmond (no teams). Maybe 150 miles from Raleigh (no teams). Northern portion of NC could be part of Norfolk's fan base.

Birmingham could work for an NFL franchise. The South is football crazy, and always has been. During the days of the USFL, Birmingham was a top fan draw.
