Whether watching hockey on TV in Canada or the USA, Ive never had a problem seeing the puck. Of course slapshots and fast wristers make the puck almost impossible to see, but thats normal. Passes, etc, are easily seen. Hockey rules, by far the most entertaining sport on earth, its just a shame that not many people give it the time of day. They dont know what theyre missing!

Remember back in the day when they used to illuminate the puck?? Back in the mid 90's when they had a little reflector or something on top of it, and it glowed on tv?? I agree that hockey is by far the most entertaining sport on earth. Although, I've played the sport since I was a little kid, so I may be a bit biased...I just don't understand America's fascination with the stop and go sports.

Yeah, the puck actually had LED's in it! How retarded was that?!?!?! Ive never played ice hockey, but have played plenty of inline street hockey. And yes, until I got into hockey, I was one of the baseball and football lovers. I mean, I still love my Cubs and Bears/Bucs, but I really have a hard time watching them anymore, Im dreadfully bored.

GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!!!!!!

Well it looks like there are a lot of different opinions of what people's favorite sports are. It looks like Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Baseball, and Football are the most popular choices, with most of the other choices coming in way behind. There is a sticky poll at the top of the Sports forum about creating subforums for this category. What do you all think? If you have an opinion on this please go to the poll and vote. Thanks.

In Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and South America the most popular sport is football (soccer). But in USA and Canada basketball, hockey, baseball and American football

And why, pray tell, did hurling not make the list?? Not curling...but the oldest sport on the planet, you know, the Irish one with a big wooden club and funky baseball.

Why was bowling not on the list? I don't like spectator sports, just participating sports. They say Golf is a sport...

Really?? i actually think that hockey is the most boring sport. Also why do they use that small flat black thing as a game ball, you can barely see it when you watch the games.

Personal rankings, but they are pretty close within the tiers (very big dropoff beween tier one and tier two) - I guess I'm a pretty traditional American sports fan:

TIER ONE
(1) College Football
(2) NFL Football
(3) College Basketball
(4) Major League Baseball
(5) NBA Basketball
(6) Golf (at least the Majors)

TIER TWO
(7) Tennis (at least the Majors)
(8) Hockey (love it live, but rarely watch it on TV)
(9) World Cup Soccer (fantastic event, but I don't watch much soccer outside of that)
