Semi finals now determined in Madrid:

Nadal vs Bautista Agut

Nishikori vs Ferrer

Big news for Nishikori, and for Japan and Japanese tennis, he is to break into the Top 10 regardless of the semifinal outcome with Ferrer:

Kei Nishikori To Break Into Top 10 - Tennis - ATP World Tour

Bautista Agut is also somewhat of a surprsie package this Masters.

Serena pulls out of Madrid, good riddance
Though Kvitova's never-ending luck continues

Sharapova-Li was another ****fest...they do LOVE bringing the worst out of each other.
But who would have thought at the start of the year that Sharapova would be the one who was healthy, over Azarenka and Serena...and who would've thought after Sharapova's first clay match at Stuttgart vs. Safarova that she would DEFEND Stuttgart and be on the verge of winning Madrid?

How about the fact that he appeared in the Finals at the last two tournaments and won at least one of them? Isn't that some "showing of Nishikori's talent?"

Nishikori has lost in Madrid, had to retire due to back injury:

Rafael Nadal Wins 27th Masters 1000 Title In Madrid - Tennis - ATP World Tour

Bad luck for Kei to lose in this fashion, but that is sport.
Will be interesting to see if he can still play in Rome, otherwise he is still a chance in RG.
Obviously the discipline and steely resolve from coach Michael Chang is rubbing off on him, he is now a genuine Majors contender.

Told you! He beat Nadal on the first set, before the injury bothered him.

Must not take anything away from Nadal either, he did win that 2nd Set and was working Nishikori over before Nishikori succumbed to his back problem.
With the non-attendance at Madrid by Djoker and Federer for very different reasons casting doubt on both of their preparations and match fitness , early exits by Wawrinka, Tsonga and Murray etc, as well as Berdych still unable to solve the Nadal riddle, Nadal's favourtism for RG has now firmed.

Interesting Draw released for Rome:

Draws - Tennis - ATP World Tour

Are we finally going to see a Nadal vs Murray meeting for the first time in over 2 1/2 years?
Djokovic himself won't have it easy returning from injury, drawn to meet Ferrer in the 4th Round as well.

Andy Murray Celebrates 27th Birthday With Rome Win - Tennis - ATP World Tour

Rome QFs will be interesting, currentl Djoker is playing Kohlschreiber for the final QF spot, and getting a real run for his money.
Dimitrov has knocked off Berdych!

Wawrinka upset by ageless veteran Tommy Haas:
