Default Yankees Pay Tribute to Va. Tech Victims

How could anyone hate the Yankees after the tribute to paid to VA Tech yesterday? Kudos to a classy act by a class act team.

The Virginia Tech community was torn apart last April 16, when student Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people on campus.

The university community is still trying to gain some semblance of normalcy. Tuesday, they are remembering the tragedy and honoring the victims in a unique manner, as the Yankees are on campus playing the Hokies in a seven-inning exhibition game. Yankees owner George Steinbrenner decided shortly after last April's tragic events that he wanted to do something, and he had the exhibition game set up and donated $1 million to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.

"It was something that was thought of almost immediately by my father," Yankees general partner Hal Steinbrenner said in a press conference on campus this afternoon. "It's a real, real pleasure to be here."

Nearly all the Yankees position players and some of their pitchers flew to Virginia Tuesday to participate in the game against the Hokies.

"Arguably, this is the most important game I've played in in my Yankees career," third baseman Alex Rodriguez said, while wearing a specially-designed Yankees hat with the Virginia Tech colors and logos.

Shortstop and captain Derek Jeter said he hoped the game could help people take their minds off the tragedy for a while: "If it just makes people smile."

The Raiders. I hate them more than any other Non Boston team in all of sports. I especially hate their low life gang bangy fans. When was the last time you seen someone with Raider gear who didnt look like a criminal?

Once again I must say that I hate the New York Mets. Worst and most obnoxious fans in sports (must be the inferiority complex since the Mets are NY's red-headed stepchildren and play second-fiddle to the Yankees), and a cocky unlikeable showboating team. Watching them choke and the Phils take over first place was a beautiful thing.

Steve O..stop the hating! It's not The Detroit RedWings' fault that they have legions of fans from coast to coast, they won more cups than any other team based in The United States and that's 10 ...more than your sorry Blackhawks can ever dream of.

and last but not least...Bush/Cheney
LMAO! Even if they're not a sports team, they still belong on any "most hated" list! [/political commentary]
