That means Lebron, Tiger, Brady, Serena etc don't count.

The 2010s are almost over with one or two seasons left. I'm trying to think of a championship-winning pro sports athlete (individual or team sport) from this decade, that was just a rookie in the 2000s, or wasn't a pro yet.
And in team sports, I don't count "ring-chasers" who have to join a team alongside other superstars to win. Only players who won a championship as the most talented player and/or perceived leader, even though that's debatable depending on the sport.

All I have is Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi? Stephen Curry maybe? Who else?

Soccer/football: Kylian Mbappé

Ice hockey: Connor McDavid

Both are pretty dominant in their respective sports.

Also in soccer, Neymar Jr. was a rookie in 2009.

I can't really think of any others that I'd consider "dominant."

In baseball I’d go with Mike Trout and Bryce Harper, even though both haven’t been involved in a lot of post season play this decade

NBA: I’d throw in The Greek Freak & Steph Curry

NFL: JJ Watt& Russell Wilson

Thanks. I'm really looking for championship winners from this era of athletes. Honestly, for years I've been told to "wait for" and "look out for" this player and that player to take over their respective sport one day. Then I watched some games last weekend, and realized I've been "waiting" all decade for the same players to emerge and be the next big winner, like past and current icons before them.

But Neymar, Mbappé, Curry, Russell Wilson reasonably fit the description.

Interesting question - started to think of names.. but it seems their dominance started before 2010 or they had a few good years but not quite at the level of being a household name...

Von Miller, Russell Wilson.... can't think of others that has had the same staying power.
Katie Ledecky - Olympians always have a hard time as they typically only get to showcase their talent twice a decade. However, some do stick a bit.
Dustin Johnson, Jordan Speith, Rickey Fowler - Rickey is likely much more popular than the other two. But Jordan has won three majors. Can maybe even throw in Brooks Koepka. But it's hard for golfers as they are all still in the shadows of Woods.
Steph Curry - probably the biggest household name on the above list. My wife know him... and she only knows Jordan, Kobe, and Lebron.

I don't understand why Steph Curry is being considered at best a maybe by some. Reading the criteria, seems the most obvious choice to me.
