turns out there wasn't a cab ride at all...no being pulled over by a man with a badge
oh, and that gun to the forehead part, well that never happened either, just like the rest of this. More likely scenario was he didn't want to tell mommy and daddy that he lost his allowance money to a transvestite prostitute behind the night club
I some ways, the difference in Lochte's stories sounds like he maybe embellished the original one a bit to make it seem more cowboy or something. Kind of like Brian Williams. Maybe they were covering for something as well. Hard to know for sure, but I certainly don't trust the Rio police to be truthful about it so there's really no way to know who to believe here.
Just as a pie-eyed guy can push his wife overboard and not remember (I always liked Robert Wagner), binges in the wee hours of the morning are not conducive to clear thinking and great, detailed memories.
So you're saying Lochte and the other three swimmers were willing to lie to the police? Hmm. I think it's more likely Brazilian officials are trying, once again, to deny the reality of the crime situation in their country.
really? the Brazilian government went all this length to conceal a robbery case, which everyone in the world knows happens every day in Rio?

Seriously? Other people, athletes, etc have been robbed and the Brazilians have reacted from disbelief to contempt to trying to hide it. So a major athlete getting robbed and this is the Brazilians reaction? Doesn't surprise me at all. Brazil has really not comported themselves well in this and other incidents.
The Brazilians I know who are now in the USA would not go back for the cops.
A relative has gone to the Olympics for the last 20 years. His wife comes over for the closing ceremony and they tour for a week. The boss gives him a week off because he has been working 16 hour days 24/7 for a month. Not this time. The wife is not going and he is on the first plane to the USA after the closing ceremony.
I believe they were robbed, but they were probably doing something illegal or immoral just beforehand and are embarrassed to admit it.
Illegal or immoral? Gimmeabreak.
They left the safety of the Olympic village, which all competitors have been instructed not to do "for their own safety." And they were probably drinking, too.
BTW, a member of the British team was robbed at gunpoint, too--a couple of nights ago. Also, after venturing out of the village in the wee hours of the morning.
Rio's reputation is well-deserved.
