Why do some people hate soccer?

I'll never understand it .... I hate people in every sport, but how can somebody hate a sport?

Easy, it's dull as dirt. lol I can't stand soccer and never will enjoy it. Lots of people hate lots of sports including ones I enjoy. Just the way it goes. Different strokes for different folks.

Soccer is exciting enough for me, especially during World Cup. The games are intense as they whittle down their groups. The 90-minutes with no stoppage (45-min per half) is very unique to Americans, and is something I guess they can't get used to.

No hate here.

Probably because it's so low-scoring.

The short-attention-span crowd loses interest without regular scores of some sort.

Lol soccer is the most popular sport in the world as in on the Globe. The MOST POPULAR and that's a fact. It doesn't matter what a few sour puss think, they can't change that.

Has nothing to do with popularity, name or whatever

If you don't like it.... fine, but hate it?

You're going too far with this...some People don't have the patience for it because they don't understand it. I can't watch cricket, rugby, curling ..... Doesn't mean I hate the sport...just not my cup of tea

I suspect most don't understand it -- a lack of familiarity. They think it's about chasing the ball around the field trying to kick it -- ie the U6 level of understanding. Once they understand the tactics and style of play going it, American football becomes boring in comparison. The other, which has some legitimacy, is the level of diving that occurs on the pitch. It's embarrassing to most athletes to see grown men wallowing around on the ground pretending to be in pain and then just jumping up like nothing happened. Take the hit like a man and get up.
