That time of the year now, we move from the American slow hard courts onto the European clay season, culminating with the French Open *Roland Garros in early June.
Currently playing at Monte Carlo Masters in the mens, and the women to start on clay next week.
Roger Federer is not playing the clay Masters series, and possibly not even the French Open. (obviously he wants to beat Sampras' Wimbledon record the most)
Who do you think will win?

With Djokovic losing his mojo since the middle of last year, Murray not great at clay, and Federer's horrible records against Nadal on clay, it's hard not to name Nadal as the front runner at this moment, with possible dark horses like Wawrinka, Tsonga, Cilic, Nishikori, etc. lurking.

I think you are undervaluing Murray.
He was the runner up at RG last year, taking out defending champion Stan Wawrinka in the semi, and won the Rome Masters as well. (+ runner up in Madrid)
That is a pretty good clay player in my book, well above the field.

Nadal vs Thiem for Barcelona title late this afternoon local time

http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/...17-saturday-sf

Nadal is going for another so-called "La Decima" or 10th title at this venue.

I am not saying that he is not good on clay. As matter of fact, he is really good, but not GREAT like Nadal and Djokovic.

Nadal now has-
10 Barcelona titles,
10 Monte Carlo titles,
9 French Open titles,
7 Rome titles.
The way he's going, he'll probably still be winning titles in 2020.
Nadal only dropped 1 set at Monte Carlo last week (Nadal def. Edmund 60 57 63), and he didn't drop a set at Barcelona.
Nadal is mauling the young guns.
At Monte Carlo last week Nadal def. Zverev 61 61, and Nadal def. Goffin 63 61, and now Nadal def. Thiem 64 61.

Nadal moves up to #4 in the ATP 52-week ranking system if he beats Thiem today.
Nadal is currently #1 in the ATP 2017 Race.
