It is so good to see a 20 year old guy like Sascha Zverev start to make consistently deep runs in tournaments, and an 18 year old guy like Denis Shapovalov show he probably has the tools to become a top level player in the next 2-3 years. With the lost 1989-1992 (or arguably 1989-1994/1995) tennis era on the men's side, we haven't seen young players make real noise at bigger tournaments for a while, probably at least since del Potro in the 2008/2009 time frame. It is very encouraging to see for the future of tennis because the Big 3/Big 4 aren't going to play and play at a high level forever.

It appears former USO champion Andy Murray will play in New York:

A lot of players are currently out of Cincy, and some gone for the year.
The USO would have to be one of the most wide open in years.

Grigor Dimitrov has won Cincy and his first Masters title:

Garbine Muguruza has also won the corresponding WTA event in Cincy:

I didn't see the match, but Muguruza really laid a beatdown on Simona Halep - a bagel and a breadstick.

Something different that is for sure.
Shapovalov still has to get through Qualification rounds though, to get into the USO.
In the meantime, Milos Raonic has withdrawn from the USO:

Former USO champions Murray and Cilic also go into the event injured and underdone, and really not a high chance of going all the way now.

US Open Draw is out, Nadal and Federer are in the same half, and could meet in the semis:

Ironically they have never met at the USO.
Fed was 5 points behind Murray in the rankings, so missed out on a possible Number 2 ranking and seeding.

2012 USO Champion Andy Murray is the latest big name to pull out of the Open:

Realistically he did not have much chance anyway, with poor preparation and not playing since Wimby.
2014 winner Cilic also has a big question mark over his fitness.
