Justify!!!!!!

ETA: I'd just seen Justify's Santa Anita win, watched it 3 times in a row, and was pretty sure he could do it. What a great win.

I don't gamble, so am not excited in that respect, but have always loved watching the Kentucky Derby. It will be fun to watch Justify's career. Am guessing they will be going next for the Triple Crown? I'm rather unknowing about horse racing in general.

Agreed, he's a great horse. And, I never did buy into that Apollo curse thing: that was just hype for sake of hype, as far as I can see. Probably put forward by someone who is 'still' looking for his 15 minutes fame.

Yes, he'll race again in 2 weeks at the Preakness.

You are probably better off not knowing much and being a casual fan. Some of us seem to know too much for our own good.

You may be right. I was just wondering how the sport of horse racing would change if one took away the gambling, and somehow returned it to pure skill, breeding and horsemanship.

I wonder how many people here would be interested if there were no gambling?

It's amusement and the excitement of the races. I was fortunate by following Eddie C. and his 5-6-7 tri box (6.00), Enticed to show 1 time (2.00), Audible to win 2 times (4.00), Audible to show 5 times (10.00) and Audible to beat Bolt (10-12.50). I was unable to post it before the race started so not confirmed.
I was 57 cents short and needed to make a tiny deposit and the mad scramble to get around the required deposit using bitcoin was unsuccessful and I was running out of time.
I had to change a 4 tri box to the 3 box. They are crazy if they think I will use bitcoin for 4-5 races a year.
Will watch the Preakness and hopefully have an account by the Belmont. Anyone with ideas on that?

Justify appears to be a solid favorite in that one. Maybe even money.
Baffert may need to stop calling his new horses the best since Secretariat. He did that by calling Arrogate the best horse since Secretariat and look how Arrogate ended.

Gronk is waiting on one of the next two legs.

Thanks, MQ. Much appreciated.

I had a very nice day. Only went for the Derby but was well worth the trip to Laurel Park. Large and very festive crowd.

Audible nearly cost me the place and a $3.00 exacta I had with the winner Justify who ran a tremendous race. Nice place and show I got on Good Magic and I put a little more money into those bets.
Close to $200.00 profit.

Sorry about Mendelssohn. Beat up at the gate and soon after in heavy traffic before the jockey gave up. Pulled up but according to the chart he's going to be okay.

Just an unusual statistic that was bound to get broken.

I think the "Apollo curse" was meant to be a joke.

There wouldn't be horse racing without betting. The "purse money" paid out to the winning owners comes from the money bet on these races.

Horse racing is very expensive with trainer's fees, vet bills and the like.
