I started a thread in the entertainment section about wrestlemania and got no response.

It is a sad reality that the Pro Wrestling business is fading fast. Some of these young kids get excited about new organizations like AEW and think they can run WWE out of business. Never. The whole business was severely damaged by Vince Russo. The way people watch wrestling and their expectations are so far from the mindset of old fans who grew up in the 70's. The old fans have lost interest. No one is going to captivate an audience like the older stars. Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Wahoo McDaniel. Ricky Steamboat and on and on. None of these new guys have it. Within 5 years this type of entertainment will probably no longer exist.

No, it will exist. It will exist by going back to its roots: to what the old fans of the 1970s--and their children and grandchildren--want and expect.

That means that matches take longer than introductions (videos, music, pyrotechnics, sixteen girls on motorcycles flanking the wrestler as he walks down the ramp, an extended promo by the wrestler, plus video of what happened in the parking lot last week which gave rise to today's match). Twenty-plus minutes of all this followed by ten minutes of wrestling. Seriously, I want to watch wrestling. I don't want to watch posturing. And that's what the WWE has become--more posturing than wrestling.

What you want to do is to find a local independent wrestling promotion, and support it. Attend its shows, get to know the wrestlers (many of them are happy to pose for photos and sign autographs at intermission and after the show), buy their souvenirs; and otherwise, return to the time when wrestling was an evening of wrestling, rather than an evening of posturing.

I'm just hoping for clean and honorable matches with no injuries and aren't decided by the refs

I will preface this by saying that I have completely stopped watching or paying any attention to Vince McMahon's product after seeing it going downhill over the past few years. So no I'm not interested in watching WrestleMania. That being said the first few shows we're really entertaining and interesting. The idea of bringing in Outsiders like football players or mr. T or celebrities to be involved was kind of fun and something different. That used to be that the matches you would see at WrestleMania we're of the caliber and type that you would only see at WrestleMania nowhere else. Now the matches at WrestleMania are the equivalent of what used to be seen at a house show 30 years ago. So it's not near as entertaining as it used to be and personally I'm not going to spend money on it but for those of you who are going to watch it I hope you enjoy it and I hope both wrestlers have fun.

I stopped watching wrestling around 2007 or 2008. Basically when the attitude era was completely gone. I haven't watched any wrestling since then, except for maybe a match on YouTube here or there. I remember the Monday Night wars! Made me have a reason to look forward to Monday nights! I remember being conflicted when Monday Night Football was on. I wanted to watch football, but wrestling was a priority.

Resurrecting this thread as it appears Wrestlemania is coming to SoFi Stadium next year, April 2023. I am considering going to see in person vs. pay per view.

Has anyone gone to a Wrestlemania live? Was it worth it? I get this sense that the energy of the venue would be something different from watching at home.
