For the first time this year, Djokovic and Federer are in the same half of a slam draw.

First big shocker. Bautista-Agut is one and done.

And more upsets abound today. Edmund, Thiem- Thiem seems to have hit a wall lately. I know clay is his thing, but my god, as he stunk lately. A few others currently in trouble as well that you would have figured would breeze. The stunner to me would be if Khachanov loses.

Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas now gone as well.
In fairness Thiem was battling a virus, but well done to Italian journeyman Thomas Fabbiano in advancing through.

Auger-Aliassime was a dark horse to some. But he got a difficult 1st round draw and got smoked. Kyrgios too with a toughie tonight, but I feel he will advance in 4 sets max. Many surprises today. Khachanov's loss surprised me the most.

Certainly was surprising for Khachanov, esp looking at his opponent Vasek Pospisil's ranking etc.
Pospisil has not done anything really in Singles for a long time.
Just about all of the Seeds in Nadal's half of the Draw have now gone out in the 1st Round!
Nadal has also just taken care of Aussie hard working journeyman John Millman in straight sets.

Zverev and Paire have got to be the most erratic players on the Men's Tour. Zverev naturally needs 5 sets and while he still has failed to regain his rising stature from about two years ago, a good win for him all the same.

Benoit Paire however. Oh lord, this guy is all over the map. What a choke job. Today he blows a 2-set lead, blowsmatch point in set 4, serving, up 40-0!! Proceeds to lose the last four games of set four. Gets the break in set 5, gives that up later, and loses the match in the tie break to Bedene. Not only do you never what your getting out of Paire from match-to-match, but every minute of a match this guy goes hot-and-cold. Weird player. Apparently too, he refused to shake Bedene's hand after the match.

ESPN's coverage is abysmal. Are they seriously trying to get people NOT to watch? Now they've gone away from the 3rd set of the Wawrinka-Lorenzi match to force feed us a doubles match involving Kyrgios. Guess ESPN is hoping Kyrgios will blow his top again to a live national audience.
