Pretty amazing, if you think about how unlikely it would have seemed not so long ago.

Did Venus Williams Ever Get Her Due?
How the first Williams sister changed the course of women’s tennis

Every piece of Williams arcana has been studied, repeatedly, to decode how this happened: how these sisters from Compton, Calif., became two of the greatest tennis players of all time and transformed not just the game but our understanding of what’s possible for women in sports, maybe even what’s possible period. It’s easy to stand in the present and get distracted, even a little blinded, by the klieg light of Serena. She’s flashy; she’s extroverted. Her talent is so singular that it feels as if it dropped whole from the heavens, a dense, crystalline meteorite of athletic prowess and drive. Venus, a year older, seems more earthly and understated. If you’re not deliberately looking through Serena’s glare — if you don’t hold up a prism and refract Serena’s achievement into its constituent parts — you’ll lose sight of what a star Venus is.

She was great for women's tennis. Always liked her more than her sister. In fact, I felt she let her sister win a few times early on because she knew Serena had so much emotion invested into tennis & winning. In the same situation, I'd probably do what Venus did with my bro. but not a cousin, lol.
I always felt V should've had 10 or more singles slam crowns. In any event, she's had an amazing career and played with grace in victory or defeat which is very respectable. The stone cold opponent face they each put out before matches in the late 90's was different and I guess helped them focus and win more. You see that from other WTA players today too so it was part of that change. Wow, I'm saying change so much I am thinking of "man in the mirror" (Michael Jackson). "Make that change.." now you got that song in your head.
