Sports should stay out of politics. It should be a place of enjoyable fun and a safe place away from the news. Even if just for a few hours. When you make it like watching the news people will turn it off.
its going to get to the point where all these teams in all sports are just going to be named at the beginning of the season with a number earned from the previous season, much like formula one dispenses car numbers, or did, they may have changed that practice. so the champions from the previous season will be team one, the runner up team two, etc. they will keep that number until the end of the championship game when new numbers will then be issued.
we need to get the politics out of sports completely.
Kansas City Chiefs - offensive to the original Americans
New England Patriots - offensive to the Brits
Tampa Bay Buccanneers - offensive to those who were victimized by pirates
New York Yankees - offensive term
Montreal Canadians - offensive to All non Canadians
Cleveland Indians - obvious
Dolphins, Tigers, Lions, Broncos, etc - offensive to animal lovers.
Vikings - offensive to those of Scandinavian heritage.
Bengals - offensive to both Bengalis and tiger lovers.
Padres - offensive to Hispanics and non-Catholics.
Cowboys - offensive to Native Americans, animal lovers, and probably others.
Celtics - offensive to the Irish.
76ers - also offensive to the British.
Can we keep the Orioles, Blue Jays, and Ravens? And maybe add robins, sparrows, and chickadees? Those can't be offensive to anyone. But the Cardinals will have to go, given their affiliation with the Vatican.
How have we on either side come up so weak as to worry about names? What did all our ancestors fight and die for? If we are going to do it then do it all at once and be done with it. Then let`s concentrate on better health care and education for all of us. Right now today we shouldn`t be our own worst enemy. Stop buying into the hate spreaders....
