Does anyone have a answer as to how sports teams travel with equipment?

Do football and basketball teams bring balls with them on the road, or does each facility/stadium provide equipment (footballs/basketballs?)

Does the NBA or NFL provide balls by virtue of a contract? Meaning, they buy their own gear and supply it for every game? How does this work? Do teams have to buy their own basketball and footballs? Do they just go into Sports Authority and buy generic brands?

Also, baseball games seem to have an abundance of baseballs. However, footballs seem to be more valued. I see people on sidelines holding footballs for every play. So if you were to do a ratio of how many footballs are used in a game, compared to a baseball, what would what be?
