The problem for her is, the two events she choked in are usually her best ones.

Same. I feel bad for her, they talked to her and she seemed so sad.

Why does NBC convert meters to feet and inches all the time?
The metric system is the ONLY official one for Olympics. Can they at least show both?
Very confusing.

Unbelievable! I just saw Petra Vlhova win gold in slalom (the event Shiffrin failed in her first run and moped on the hill for a while) after only finishing 8th in the first run. It doesn't happen often that a skier who finishes 8th in the initial run win's in the second run.

Yeah. But America uses the old system.

she has lost a step. it happens to us all. she said she felt she had to push it to the limit to medal, hence the mistakes.

I was wondering the same thing. But does a skier really start to get over the hill at the age of 26? I could see 30, but 26 seems to me to be pretty close to the prime age.

It’s the mental part. SL and GS are highly technical events where precision is critical. Her father died 2 years ago. Then COVID-19. I imagine it’s really hard to stay focused in China on a race course you’ve never seen. She’s only 26 but she has a decade of experience racing on all the World Cup courses so everything is dialed in. She’s still the best female SL specialist in the world. Nobody has been that dominant since Stenmark.

She has 73 World Cup wins. An astounding 47 SL wins. She has two Olympic gold medals and a silver. Some poorly run [Mod cut] show competition in China doesn’t define her career.

Seriously. On manufactured snow.

She’s already great. She doesn’t need this.

It doesn't define her career. But I do believe nerves are to blame for these two events. In other words I believe she has choked (so far) in these gGames. Also think her sitting there sulking for 25 min yesterday wasn't a good look.
