Alex Honnold's El Capitan Free Solo (no rope) climb is the most impressive athletic achievement in the history of humankind. That's arguable, but consider that no one has ever done it, and no one in our lifetimes will likely do it. Factor in the risk of imminent death at every moment and it supersedes a whole lot of other accomplishments. Skill, endurance, mental toughness. Staggering.

Absolutely insane, but no doubt an incredible skill level and strength and stamina involved.
Easily the most high risk sporting activity there is, worse than BASE jumping.

Definitely one of the all-time most impressive athletic achievements ever.

I've been to Yosemite a few times. I only looked at El Cap after it became popular with rock climbers. Never thought about someone climbing that. Standing at the base looking up, it's TALL. Standing at the top looking down is "OH SHI..."

Anyone got that "nope, nope, nope, Hell no!" meme?
