Heh heh. Just some interesting trivia about gridiron football goal-posts and the role they played.

Nowadays in all levels of American football, the goal-posts are all behind the endzone. American colleges and universities have kept their goal-posts behind the end zone since 1927. Yet between 1933 and 1974, the NFL actually put the goal-posts in front of the end zone and players had used the position of the goal posts to their advantage during that time period.
Interestingly enough, Canadian football still puts the goal-posts in front of the goal area but that's because the Canadian football field is bigger and kicking field goals through an upright at the back of the goal area would be very difficult. And if you wondered where the now ubiquitous U-shaped goal-post was designed, well it originated from none other than Montreal, QC and the then Montreal Alouettes owner had a hand in selling it.
